Reptile Rescue is the heartfelt passion of Steve and Maria, two animal loving Las Vegas entertainers. So much has changed over the years for them.

Steve started juggling over 30 years ago and Maria has been working as a magician in Las Vegas since 1994. Together they have worked with lions, tigers, elephants, monkeys but most of all, snakes! Their hands-on experience and back stage access has brought them to the realization that these animals do not want to be captive and belong in the wild. Having seen reptiles in horrible conditions at pet shops, reptile expos, conventions and even and what should be there forever home, they knew that changes need to be made in their life. And the best place to make a change is to start in your own home. So now Steve & Maria no longer involve themselves with any animals other than the rescued reptiles they have adopted.

Reptiles have become the "Disposable Pet" of the decade. Often, when the animals are no longer wanted they become neglected which can result in a slow possibly painful death. Reptiles ailments can go unnoticed for a very long time and by the time it is realize something may be wrong and it's time to go to a veterinarian it can be too late or cost a lot of money for medication. so then some may be dropped off and left for dead at Veterinarian offices with unpaid bills, others, after owners realize their adult reptile is not worth anything, may be dropped off at a pet shelter or pet shop. Efforts to cure these animals are often successful but regretfully many need to be euthanized. A truly sad and sometimes painful end for many once “loved” pets.

We are not ashamed to say that we believe these animals should not be pets. If that desire is so strong for you to have a reptile or any exotic animal as a pet please adopt and do your research to do as much as possible to emulate what their home would be like in the wild for them to have a long and healthy life. It is so rare that we hear of a snake that has lived it's full lifespanas a pet which can be 15-30 years.
